Social Prosperity

SPIL has been deeply rooted in Taichung for 40 years, always placing emphasis on corporate social responsibility and environmental protection. To realize the mission of safeguarding the future hope for generations to come starting from our base of operations, SPIL emphasizes community welfare, participation, and support for arts and culture as core aspects of its social engagement. SPIL has long invested human and material resources in these areas, actively giving back to the community with the aim of becoming a driving force for social progress.

Social welfare
1. Concern for schools in remote areas
SPIL has long been concerned with the learning issues faced by children in rural schools. Driven by a desire to bring hope to these areas through sustained financial support, SPIL is cognizant of the lack of learning resources for children in rural areas. We donated 600 DIY material kits, equally divided between Heping Elementary School in Heping District, Taichung City, and Chu Xiang Elementary School in Lugu Township, Nantou County. The schools planned handcraft courses, allowing the children to experience creating these kits and take their lovely creations home.
On September 16, 2023, SPIL organized a Grass Picnic Day event at Shigang Tuniu Sports Park, where nearly 200 SPIL volunteers crafted 200 adorable sheep charms. These handmade items were gifted to children at Wanhe Elementary School and Yuandou Elementary and Junior High School in Erlin Township, conveying love and hope to these rural areas. Among the volunteers, 50 acted as daytime "parents" for children from Chu Xiang Elementary School, enjoying their first picnic experience together, crafting charity items, and writing blessing cards. This activity allowed the children to participate in spreading love, learn to share, and feel the flow of goodwill under the guidance and companionship of the volunteers.
Under the trend of net zero carbon emission in 2050, global warming has seriously impacted the living environment of the earth, and the action to protect the earth is no longer just a vision. To make children realize that there is only a limited time to cherish the earth, environmental sustainability education is a matter of great urgency. Through a green energy experiment teaching method and in the spirit of CSR and USR, SPIL and Green Energy and Biotechnology Industry Research Center, Feng Chia University jointly visited the 100-year-old Shih Cheng Elementary School in Dongshi on the eve of Children's Day to hold the "Light Up Shi Cheng with SPIL and Green Energy - Environmental Protection Science Education Activity" on the eve of Children's Day, thereby cultivating students' awareness and interest in reducing carbon and loving the earth. Moreover, during the summer vacation, we also promoted the "LED replacement program for rural elementary schools." The school is a school where teachers and students work together to create an inclusive learning environment with love and care for the slow flying angels. On the eve of the summer curriculum and the start of the Fantastic Special Education program, SPIL helped to replace the old lamps in the school, so that all the children can learn in a bright and safe environment. Through the dissemination of green energy and environmental education, the spirit of energy saving and green energy will be deeply planted in the minds of pillars of society in the future, while achieving the multiple goals of energy saving and carbon reduction, improving the teaching environment and reducing electricity expenses.
2. SPIL's 100 Dollar Family Care Club
In the aftermath of the 921 Earthquake, Siliconware Precision Industries Co., Ltd. enlisted staff members to establish the “SPIL Family Assistance 100-Dollar Club” with the goal of maintaining assistance and support for children and families through small individual donations of NT$100, which are pooled to create a charity fund. As of 2023, the child support fund amounts to over NT$ 90 million. Over 31,000 individuals currently make donations to the Family Assistance “100-Dollar” Club every year. These donations cover the living expenses of over 3,000 children and teenagers. In addition, 302 financially challenged children and teenagers in Taiwan have been adopted to support them in their stable pursuit of academic studies and pass on positive concepts such as diligent learning, fraternity and filial piety, and sociability and helpfulness.Scholarships are also one of the uses of donations. In 2023, we held scholarship awards ceremonies for the Northern Taichung Taiwan Fund for Children and Families and Changhua Taiwan Fund for Children and Families respectively; a total of 160 students received the awards.
3. Volunteer Club
In 2013, SPIL established a volunteer club that has a different purpose than the Family Assistance “100-Dollar” Club, which focuses on donations. The volunteer club, which consists of SPIL employees and their friends and relatives, aims to provide social services. Despite the fact that the club only had few members initially, the number of volunteer service hours and volunteers has been rising steadily as a result of a series of volunteer activities. In the future, the promotion of this club will continue with the support of the Company with the goal of enlisting a rising number of co-workers.
Community Involvement and Concern
1. Participation in Community Activities

2. Community Participation and Investment in Resources
The semiconductor industry is often hailed as the cornerstone of Taiwan’s economy and prosperity, and SPIL, as a key player in this sector, has been actively contributing to educational philanthropy. Since 2011, SPIL offers scholarships to outstanding students from financially challenged and underprivileged families in Tanzi District, Taichung, Changhua City, and Hemei Township in Changhua County. In 2023, with the opening of the new Erlin plant, SPIL expanded its scholarship program to include Erlin Town, further supporting disadvantaged students from high school to postgraduate levels. To be eligible, students must achieve the required academic and conduct grades and meet the criteria for low-income households. This initiative allows them to secure the SPIL Scholarship, helping nurture future talent and support their educational advancement. In 2023, a total of 157 students received the award, and a total of 2,557 scholarships were provided to outstanding students. We hope that the children will win honor and awards today and become future professionals tomorrow, injecting more new blood and vitality into various industries in Taiwan.
Industry-Academia Cooperation- Campus Development Plan: Developing a Brand-New Win-Win Generation
For many years, SPIL has been committed to industry-academy cooperation, and it emphasizes the integration of learning and application. The Company regularly organizes a series of integration activities: campus lectures, company visits, corporate mentorship activities, internship programs and practical credit courses to enable students to understand the packaging and testing process and the actual operation mode of the semiconductor industry, in order to enrich the hard and soft skills required for their careers. Moreover, for core groups, the Company also promote internship programs, industry-academy collaboration classes and scholarships for potential talents. Furthermore, by using the guidance of dedicated corporate mentors as a bridge between campus and the workplace, industry and academy are seamlessly connected.
In 2023, the "Corporate Mentorship" program will enter its tenth year. This time, the program will be organized independently by the third schools to plan activities that meet the needs of each school. SPIL enlists production line managers for on-site tours that aim to break through the barrier of imagination and give students real-world experience and a deeper understanding of practical operations. The Company has designed team silicon game competitions to further familiarize students with the packaging and testing industry and thereby reinforce links between activity participation and willingness to learn. Corporate mentor activities are conducive to the early recruitment of outstanding talent by the Company and enable students to gain a better understanding of industry dynamics, explore their career interests, and build up abilities essential for employment at an early stage. These activities also represent a channel for businesses to give back to universities and society. The facilitate the generation of positive cycles in the field of industry-academy collaboration under the premise of win-win models.
